What is an FFP2 mask?

An FFP2 mask is a respirator mask designed to filter out at least 94% of airborne particles. The "FFP" in FFP2 stands for "Filtering Facepiece Particles." These masks are designed to protect the wearer from inhaling various dangerous particles, including those that may contain the virus that causes COVID-19.

What is the difference between an FFP2 mask and a N95 mask?  

An FFP2 mask is a type of respiratory mask that meets the European standard EN 149:2001+A1:2009. These masks are similar in design and function to N95 masks used in the United States and other countries.

The main difference between the two types of masks is that FFP2 masks are tested and certified to a European standard, while N95 masks are tested and certified to a US standard.

How to properly wear and remove FFP2 mask  

To wear an FFP2 mask properly, start by washing your hands with soap and water, or use hand sanitiser if soap and water are unavailable. Next, take the mask out of its packaging and ensure there are no holes or tears. Then, hold the mask by the straps, with the straps facing downwards.

Place the mask over your nose and mouth, ensuring it covers both of them entirely and adjust the straps around your ears so that the mask fits snugly against your face without leaving any gaps. Once the mask is securely in place, avoid touching the front of the mask as it may have become contaminated.

To remove an FFP2 mask properly, start by washing your hands with soap, water, or hand sanitiser.

Carefully remove the mask but do not touch the front of the mask as it may have become contaminated. Dispose of the mask immediately in a closed bin. Wash your hands thoroughly.
